It's comforting to hear other people who share similar opinions about this. As an independent open source developer, it's clear to me that corporations have taken over open source and have been actively suppressing independent projects. I've been very fortunate that my open source project was able to get a lot of attention early on (5 years ago) and has been able to get a lot of steady traffic from word-of-mouth since. I don't know how anyone could independently launch a successful OSS project these days.
