Maybe from a purely semantics standpoint they're not, but from what I've seen they go hand-in-hand. I think if you went around saying you "knew OOP" but didn't know what a factory was, people would look at you funny.
- jariel 6y agoOutside of Java you don't see a lot of those specific patterns (ie Factory) used. Certainly not in TypeScript or Python for example.
