I know this is a meta statement but I cannot possibly believe that this is the sort of thing that would cause Google to downrank your site. A quick search informed me there are thousands of SEO blogs on the dangers of passive voice. But as with a lot of this industry, the reading appears to be along the lines of "it reads better and I'm sure Google would rate that".
- vasco 6y agoThat's what you get with adversarial optimisation like this. If we actually knew what worked for the algorithm, the algorithm wouldn't work as people would immediately game those published vectors of optimisation.
- SquareWheel 6y agoI agree it almost certainly has no effect on bot-ranking. It may influence those clicking on the results though.
- javhackernews 6y agoIt does influence in those clicking the results.
- hackerman123469 6y agoSEO is not always about ranking in a search engine but also about appealing to the people searching. Of course you want to rank high but you also want people to click on your content.
