I think pg's idea of a hacker is not a person who only hacks code, but it is more like "Venture hacks", "marketing hacks". To hack is a) the process of grokking through hacking b) the process/mindset of circumventing apparent barriers in front of you. Both are very hard, and require a great deal of street smarts.
