At the risk of being considered non-constructive, I wish the author made a leap of faith and shared their educated guess regarding where the API engineering is moving to. I appreciate the effort of sharing a perspective, but I would have warmly welcome a bit of prospective. That being said, nice prose and interesting article nonetheless.
