FWIW, when I upgraded my parents operating system for their iPhone, it bricked the phone and I had to take it to the Apple store to get them to get it to stop freezing after attempting to boot the system following the upgrade. The Apple tech told me that next time I want to upgrade multiple versions, that I should install fresh instead of upgrading.
