Why do anyone want a lower nm number?
- jonplackett 6y agoLover usually means faster and more advanced. So that’s why I’m asking.
- iagovar 6y agoCheaper and more yield/wafer maybe?
- baybal2 6y agoI think they just want to put more electronics onto the device. Rear illuminated sensors were getting more, and more "smart" over they years.
- waheoo 6y agoWhat's why you're asking? They are getting lower.. thats what the article is about? You did.. read the article right?
- Strom 6y agojonplackett was asking about 28nm because chips were being mass produced at that size in 2013 already. Nowadays people are used to reading news about 5nm as a new process size. > You did.. read the article right? Please don't be snarky like this. Asking whether someone read the article is specifically against HN guidelines. [1] -- [1] https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
