Banksy funds refugee rescue boat operating in Mediterranean
- ArkVark 6y agoThese people are economic migrants, not refugees. They are all men, for starters, and they have paid people smugglers thousands of dollars in attempts to get into Europe. When inside Europe, they will absorb all the Government welfare they can, and work menial cash jobs that could be done by working-class Europeans or robots. The proceeds of this will be sent back to their home village to pay off the loans that enabled them to get there. Along the way they will create a huge amount of social conflict and crime, which wealthy Europeans like Banksy live separated from. If Banksy truly wishes to reduce human suffering in MENA, he should donate money to the provision of education and family planning to women in that region, in order to reduce overpopulation which is the fundamental driver of these migration outflows.
- nojokes 6y agoYour point of view is considered as racist by many people but I think it is true. It is a tragedy that these people are wanting to leave their homes, their countries. The real effort should go into solving the actual problem. But I think the old colonial empires can take as many immigrants from their old colonies they want. The problem begins when they start to force other countries to accept these people. Other countries that have nothing to do with the colonial past who itself were colonized and where people lived in great misery and under oppression.
