Sending stuff in space (above low earth orbit) is the costliest things ever. So far, only a handful of states managed to send things to the moon, and only two managed to bring something back from it. The last time it happened was thirty-five years ago. And when I say "bring something", I mean a hundred grams (less than 3.6 ounces). Only one organisation managed to send astronauts there and bring them back. There are plans to do it again, but you can bet space exploration will remain state controlled for a very long time.
