This is a horribly spun headline. The question was not whether to "retain presence", it was "Would you rather the police spend more time, the same amount of time or less time as they currently spend in your area?". And unsurprisingly the answers split with roughly half the respondents saying "same" and the remainder split between "more" and "less". Which is about what you get with any status-quo question like this. The headline, being phrased along the lines of a protest demand, makes this sound like a majority disagreeing with the premise of the BLM movement, when that's not the question at all. (It is worth noting, though, that the answers anticorrelate with the amount of actual police work! The more people see the police, the LESS they want them around.)
