It's a balancing act. I trust Apple to keep my security and privacy as a priority, and to keep my iOS device up to date and secure, but I can't install things from outside the app store. I don't trust the android ecosystem in the slightest bit (to the extent that I don't like people connecting to my wifi with their random android devices) to be secure, but I could install whatever I wanted.
