One of the much-advertised features of the Kindle is its ability to highlight a word and look it up against a dictionary, against Wikipedia, or against the web.
- Mediterraneo10 6y agoYou don't need internet connectivity on the Kindle to look up a word in a dictionary. The Kindle supports dictionaries in Mobipocket format, so the dictionary lives right on the device. It is easy to find .mobi dictionaries for major languages freely available from torrent communities. Using the Kindle's Wikipedia function actually requires going through Amazon's servers and is a privacy violation, so I would not recommend users do that.
