This happens all the time when planning social events, e.g. "Are you busy tomorrow?" instead of "Do you want to go watch a movie tomorrow?"
- SketchySeaBeast 6y agoThat one is bad because "are you busy tomorrow" has equal chance of you asking me to do something distasteful, so I'm usually going to opt for a "no" because I have no desire to move that couch for you, but I may be open to seeing a movie together.
- hnick 6y agoI will just say "why" or "that depends, I'm busy but maybe I can make room". There seems to be an attitude that we shouldn't be rude to people, but to be honest, I learned such things at a young age from blunt responses like this. Along with the old response "Can I ask you a question" "You just asked me one". They forced introspection.
