Could you imagine a government agency spying on its own citizens? In America that would be illegal and unconstitutional.
We would have to immediately defund that agency.

- guerrilla 6y ago> Poe's law is an adage of Internet culture stating that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, it is impossible to create a parody of extreme views so obviously exaggerated that it cannot be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of the views being parodied. The original statement, by Nathan Poe, read: > Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is utterly impossible to parody a Creationist in such a way that someone won't mistake for the genuine article.
- jessaustin 6y agoHow old was Nathan Poe when he wrote that?

- gruez 6y ago>Could you imagine a government agency spying on its own citizens? In America that would be illegal and unconstitutional. I thought that was the case in most countries, so they get around it by getting their buddies to do it for them, hence five-eyes (or n-eyes).
- throw_this_one 6y agoImagine a country where you have zero power to elect officials and have no constitution, so you could never have oversight over it. Oh wait, that’s the system (via China/Russia) that our intelligence agencies are helping protect us against.
- theplague42 6y agoDo you legitimately believe that US intelligence agencies are the bulwark against authoritarian government in the US?
- throw_this_one 6y agoNo, I meant they are part of the bulwark against countries like China/Russia taking over the world.
- jessaustin 6y agoThis is a seriously nutty belief, that you claim to have. This year the increase in our military spending was bigger than Russia's entire military spending. We could cut our military budget in half and still dwarf China's.
- throw_this_one 6y agoHah, what is funny is that you think military spending amounts means much at all. First of all, there’s asymmetrical warfare. Russia’s investment in cyber, hypersonic, etc. China’s investment in medium range missiles to create access denial for the US in the pacific. Plus factor in that the US budget is bloated because of these corrupt fat cat defense industry companies, huge waste, etc...
- chishaku 6y agoGiven US foreign and economic policy intent on dominating every corner of the planet [0] and the universe [1], could you blame China, Russia, or any other country for doing everything they can to reach parity with the US? Giving up all your rights in the name of endless wars on everything is a path to a sad ending for the US and the world. - jandrese 6y agoThe sentiment was that the agencies would only look outward, but in reality the problem is mostly insider threat.
- secondcoming 6y agoHow would they track all the white supremacists?
