It's not fair, hopelessly bureaucratic and probably corrupt as hell but we have one. There is no way that giving everyone (eligible?) £1000 a month will take a whole bunch of people out of poverty because managing finances is a skill that no one is taught in schools. People who have good jobs and earn good money can't manage it as is.
