There is a LOT of low-hanging fruit when it comes to where to install plain old regular solar. We could probably spend the next 50-100 years installing as many (regular) solar panels as possible and still have plenty of places left to put more of them. Obviously it's not bad to develop these technologies, but I think they'll only be useful in niche applications.
