- throwanem 6y agoNor I! And now I'm wondering, if a game design studio knew about this stuff a decade ago, why are we now seeing it presented as a revolutionary new breakthrough? I wonder if the possibility was recognized a while back, and what's new is an apparently significant step toward realization, while we're only seeing the use of PEDOT in implants presented as a totally new concept because we're seeing it refracted through the rather cracked and dirty lens of popular science reporting.
- Alekhine 6y agoThat's close to my thinking. I doubt the researchers came up with PEDOT out of nothing, or maybe they did and they're rediscovering some ideas. Perhaps it was considered a more fringe or exploratory idea to use PEDOT back in the 2000s, so it didn't attract much funding, but the writers for Deus Ex found some papers and thought it would make for good sci-fi. And it has, since we're seeing an article today on it's viability.
