What a terrible rebuke. Nobody does of the flu by their definition. It’s not that bad of a disease. What the flu does is put massive stresses on the body and open your lungs up to other infections. People who die of the flu largely die of other things—whether an opportunistic infection or a preexisting condition. But the key point is they would not have died at the time they did if they didn’t get sick with the flu.
So it goes with COVID too. The COVID statistic, like the flu statistic, is deaths of patients who had contracted COVID-19 regardless of what actually killed them in the end.
TFA is comparing apples to apples. This skeptical rebuke is not. It’s infuriating.
