Ask HN: How do/did you find your purpose?

My first blog post is a bit depressing (http://blog.jonathancai.com/purpose/), but I wanted to ask, have you also felt lost during the beginning of your career? And how do you combat this and/or find "purpose" (in your work or otherwise)?
