With regards to financial transactions et al - it's not the same. You can't open a credit card and then demand they delete your personal info. You can't move money around banks and then expect them to "forget" you. Anonymity does not exist in finance, at least not between you and the institutions warding the money and the authorities they are regulated by. Though they are also (allegedly?) tightly controlled on what they can/cannot do with this personal info. Frankly it couldn't work if it did because it would be rife with crime (<edgelord>moreso than it already is!</edgelord>)
