- paxys 6y agoNot really the same, considering the total annual compensation for all these $1 CEOs is wayyy more in reality.
- zubairq 6y agoYeah but annual compensation beyond 1 dollar for Steve Jobs most people considered Would never come. I was there at the time and apple was considered a has been company that most people thought was finished, including myself: https://www.google.dk/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/michael-dell-1997-apple-quote-2013-2%3famp https://www.google.dk/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/michael-...
- zubairq 6y agoAnd I have visited the oil industry in Norway and know people who work in the wealth fund. This guy would have done the job for free, he only takes a salary as he has to. The power and money to be made from potential contacts by taking this job is in the billions of dollars, if he wishes that
- Cthulhu_ 6y agoThat's exactly it, the 'wage' is a tip - and often kept low on purpose, can't pay income tax if you don't earn an income - the real money is in being able to make decisions that benefit your interests. It'll be in the form of under-the-table kickbacks to skirt around the SEC and such of course, but it's there. I mean the US president is doing it, he's funneled hundreds of millions into his resorts / golf clubs alone, and that's just the blatantly obvious / in clear view tip of the iceberg.
- tsherr 6y agoThe money Trump and company have made from gaming the stock market is insane.
- magicalhippo 6y ago> the real money is in being able to make decisions that benefit your interests And that's why there's so much fuss around him getting the job, the opposition is very worried that he'll do just that. https://www.nrk.no/ytring/fire-sporsmal-og-svar-om-tangen-saken-1.15126590 https://www.nrk.no/ytring/fire-sporsmal-og-svar-om-tangen-sa...
- MagnumOpus 6y ago> I mean the US president is doing it Norway is a first-world country and has working oversight and anti-corruption procedures. Trust me, he will be policed more effectively than Donald.
- valuearb 6y agoNot for Jobs, when he started taking it he had no other significant compensation, not even stock options. Well nothing other than his free lunch scam. https://www.businessinsider.com/how-steve-jobs-scammed-apple-for-free-lunch-with-1-dollar-salary-2017-6 https://www.businessinsider.com/how-steve-jobs-scammed-apple...
