No, There Wasn't an Advanced Civilization 12,000 Years Ago
- informatimago 6y agoThis is ridiculous! My computers are literally dissolving under my hands (since they're made of cheap plastic, perhaps intentionally for "ecological" purpose. And this schmuck believes an advanced civilisation would build artefacts that would last 12k years??? (actually, they did, purposely: the sphynx and (some) pyramids, but not everyday ware). We're dematerialising stuff, that is, building at the nanoscale (how often do archeologists study old rocks with electronic microscopes?), and putting our infrastructure on fucking low-Earth orbit, middle at most, that all have a lifetime of less than 1000 years!!! With idiots such as Greta, how much would you bet that in a few years they'll demand that any non-biodegradable artefact of the past centuries be dismantled and recycled? In addition, we will soon switch to bio- and genetic technology, thus making us a very advanced live civilisation, that would leave even less artefact, because there wouldn't be any, but they'd be grown as plants, or animals (bacteria). And of course, this is not counting the ice age, when we take a glacier 1000 km high on the face for thousands of years, there doesn't remain a lot of macroscopic artefact to be found.
