Ask HN: Creating simple session based authentication in a React/Node app?

Hey all! Recently I've been trying to implement local server session based authentication in a React/Node app of mine, but all the guides I can find revolve around JWT's. It'd much appreciate if anyone could link to some learning resources to help me get started.
