Thanks y'all. Yeah, basically I was dumb and somehow missed or ignored Factorio's demo. I downloaded and played a bit of the demo last night, and while it's certainly interesting, this type of resource based dynamic system builder just isn't for me if it lacks an adversarial agent.
Then again, while typing this reply, I searched for "competitive Factorio" and found this mod[1]. So, thanks for broadening my gaming horizons!

- coryfklein 6y agoThe aliens are specifically there to provide an adversarial agent. Unless that phrase means something different to you than it does to me.
