Perhaps a better way of articulating this is: "Focus on your own game." Be Tiger Woods (before the hookers, etc). Focus on being the best at what you do. Let the competition follow you. The reason I rephrased is that the competition always matters. You may be able to make a better product, but if the competition is so strong and differentiation so lacking in the market that you will never be able to make any money, then you are in trouble regardless.
