So does the hot water freeze faster or does it cool faster? Knowing if it freezes faster but doesn’t reach 0 degrees faster would help point to the cause. Especially if it’s known whether the temp is uniform. Is the room temp water super cooling? Someone needs to do an experiment measuring temperature distribution over time in both hot and room temp water as it freezes.
