While I wasn't a TA, we did a lot of peer grading and reading of reports and papers at my college, and I can confirm, there is a lot of stuff where people just turn in complete crap. The number of nights I had to stay up to fix sections on my team's report that someone had written horribly were way more than I ever thought should happen.
