Charging at night isn't great for using solar power without storage. Ideally, we'd incentivize people to use their car's battery to store excess solar power during the day and smooth out the duck curve (perhaps slowly recharging again at night)
- ip26 6y agoWind power actually peaks at night in most places, and is also cheaper than solar. Overnight EV charging & wind power is a good pairing. I believe most wind power curtailment today happens overnight.
- EricE 6y agoWind power is also great for massacring wildlife (bats and birds in particular). TANSTAAFL
- AstralStorm 6y agoIt is also great at increasing maintenance costs and causing blackout due to equipment failure.
