Why so few buildings have windows that open
- cycomanic 6y agoThis is one of the things that always annoys me when stayin to large hotel chain i particular in the US and China, you can't open a freaking window. I like to sleep with open window, I just sleep much better. However most modern hotels don't allow you to, instead you have AC, that constantly turns on and off during the night (waking me up) or if you turn it off things get way too hot and sticky. The reason why this seems better in Europe IMO is because many hotels are old buildings which were build without the extensive HVAC systems. I do however realise that providing good ventilation via open windows in urban office spaces is definitely challenging.
