It's not just TSMC. There've been stories of Chinese companies hiring retired Japanese engineers for years now. Due to the system in Japan, people are forced into retirement at 60. Some are allowed back on rotating yearly contracts at a hugely reduced salary. Often, these people might still have a remaining mortgage and college fees for their kids. So what's one to do when they're offered a lucrative salary for a cushy 'consultant' position?
