Regardless on where one stands in regards to the issue of whether or not gig workers should be employees, I don’t see how anyone could see Uber’s choice of action here as anything other than malicious obedience. The court proceedings have been going on for a very long time, and now, only on practically the eve of the ruling becoming effective, do they start making plans for it?
