- FpUser 6y agoThere was a period when many scientists and engineers were convicted on some bogus anti-soviet charges and jailed. Then Stalin realized that many of those were world class people with unique talents and knowledge and they were allowed to work in their area of expertise but in jail like but somewhat softer conditions. In 1953 after Stalin's death the practice was eliminated (took few years).
