Svarte Piet is arguably a racist caricature, so I can see why it was banned. And no, it’s not just soot on his face, as some people like to claim.

Where would you draw the line? In my place it's more common for him to have a very massive black beard covering 3/4 of his face instead so you can almost only see the eyes, is that more acceptable? Its root is in mythology rather than anything else.

  I’d say the line should drawn on the presentation. If we have hundreds of people on the streets wearing blackface and and red lipstick, that’s not okay. However if he’s presented as this bearded fellow, i see no problem.

    And what about the black women from Suriname who for years enjoyed volunteering for the role? They are turned away by the organizing committee ... tada, because they are black.

        I don't have familiarity with the story, but I highly doubt skin color is an important detail for any other character. St. Nick is Turkish after all.

So yeah while this one is probably okay for Facebook, I understand the point of view of the Dutch and the German ones which are basically the exact same concept but with different visual choices.

  I think you are missing the point just as much as people who make cultural claims. This whole thing about racism is all purely pretense, psychological abuse and degradation in order to wage war and domination and invasion and conquest upon Europeans the world over. It's no different than an abusive spouse saying "I wouldn't hit you if you did things right" … a pretense for being abusive and evil. What people do not realize is that this is part of a plan to establish a new kind of aristocracy and feudalistic system the globe over. You will soon enough only be allowed to have approved thoughts and approved culture and own approved things … as decreed by our masters. And you will be swiftly dealt with if you disagree or even dare question your masters. THAT is the point of all this racism stuff, denigration of the enemy to spread demoralization and deracinate European culture … a cultural, psychological, ethnic, and eventually genetic and physical genocide that is being perpetrated right under your nose.
