So as I understand it Rust is compelling because it is a safer alternative to C++ ( and sometimes C but mainly a C++ replacement ).
We wouldn't usually create a single page app in C++ right? So why would we want to do that in Rust ( other than, "just because" ). Right tool for the right job and all that.
- K0nserv 6y agoRust is much more like Ruby than C++ while retaining the characteristics of C++/C. The build system and ecosystem is also excellent, something that you cannot say for C++. In terms of WASM Rust and C++/C are in the same boat i.e. the few languages you can realistically use because they don't require a heavy runtime or GC.
- nikitaga 6y agoRust is also a safer alternative to Javascript (and even Typescript for that matter).
