it’s not - it wouldn’t be that expensive if interchange (biggest chunk of transaction processing) was more heavily regulated beyond the Durbin Amendment. right now we have a situation where the rich (who pay for things with expensive premium credit cards) are being subsidized by the poor (using cash or basic credit cards)
