I really like the relational model, and I think its the best way to model data. Referential integrity is an awesome thing that removes the possibility for many bugs to exist. As for SQL it has its warts, but im pragmatic when it comes to programming languages, like for example C, JavaScript, its also "ugly" but its often the best option anyway.
