Sounds like a bad ups. Lead acid batteries can be discharged pretty far while still being rechargable..the same can't be said for lihion. Car batteries are lead acid/gel cell batteries. They last for years and can take a very large discharge while still being rechargable. Also, by cycle I meant a single vharge-discharge cycle can be more useful when larger amperage or more power is needed between charges.
