Pixel 4a is the first device to go through ioXt at launch
- PaulHoule 6y agoThis post does a bad job of communicating the magnitude of the problem and the value of the solution. A list of companies involved "... Google, Amazon, Facebook, T-Mobile, Comcast, Zigbee Alliance, Z-Wave Alliance, Legrand, Resideo, [and] Schneider Electric" is oddly devoid of any consumer-facing IoT names, but rather the kind of companies that might launch a video streaming service. A central theme of the "takers" is that they want to build devices and services to the control the user (experience) and to take tolls at the gates. (As it is, they are furious that they can only get citizens of Oceania to buy monthly plans for their telescreens and are getting locked out of the large Eastasia market. No Eastasians on that list...) The Zigbee and Z-Wave alliances and the Eurasian-style vendors that follow at least partially represent the "makers" of IoT devices other than cameras and microphones -- no consumer brands represented, since the "takers" don't want to offer a "maker" as chance to stand out. It's like being a big company is the main reason to be on the list. General Electric (maybe a Eurasian-style conglomerate long ago) would have been on the list if they didn't blow it up last year.
