Maybe politicians with a high BMI are more likely to be caught being corrupt. Doesn't mean that they're more corrupt. One of the first things which comes to mind when thinking about obesity is neglect. It makes sense that someone who is neglectful with their health and appearance could be neglectful with their public image and reputation. Maybe they're simply more neglectful when it comes to covering up their tracks. They don't value their personal image much so they don't invest much energy into protecting it.
