I'm just curious. This structure is pretty easy to follow if you are really passionate about what you do.. but just asking if you happen to be in a relationship like being engaged would you have any idea how to give time to everything? Or is that where the line gets drawn? (No not applicable to me... yet..)
- slysf 16y agoI followed the structure outlined by mindcrime for almost 2 months with a supportive wife. It really depends on how ready your partner is for you to get serious about a new company. Even once you transition to full time on the new company you should expect the hours to stay the same for a while. We have a standing agreement that I take 1 full day off a month with no laptop access and occasionally I'll take a movie in the evening.
- kiriappeee 16y agoWell a supportive wife is a little different. But a relationship where your communication is mostly after work hours since you aren't living together yet could get strained if not managed correctly. I'm quite serious about this question because there is a very strong possibility of it happening to not just me but a few others as well soon. So any suggestions? Because if it is a road of no compromise, one or the other, I'd have to take the relationship I guess. But I would honestly prefer both.
- mindcrime 16y agoGood question... I honestly don't know. I'm single at the moment, and don't really date right now, since I'm just too busy. A relationship would definitely complicate things, but this is pretty important to me, so any potential SO would have to be pretty understanding, at least for a while...
- kiriappeee 16y agoBtw I did forget to say. That routine that you currently have is really awesome! Love the whole going into BnN to read for a bit or just walking across to take in a movie. Used to do things like that during Degree and it worked really well for me
- mindcrime 16y agoYeah, but I'm a bit fortunate in that there's a B&N conveniently located on my route home from the dayjob; and I do live - literally - across the street from a theater. If I had to drive 15 minutes to go see a movie, I'd probably allow myself even fewer of the "night off to go take in a movie." But then it would probably just turn into "read fiction for a couple of hours" instead. :-)
