I'm trying to wrap my head around the phrases "conventional truth" and "alternative" truth.
How about we aim for just plain old un-modified "truth" and realize that it can be quite elusive?
- rjkennedy98 6y agoTo quote T.S. Eliot: "Human beings cannot bear very much reality". To expect anyone to strive towards truth is just not realistic. That's what makes genius so special.
- RichardCA 6y agoHuman beings have existed for several hundred thousand years. The idea of a separate objective truth outside ourselves is a relatively recent development. We generally credit the Ionian Greeks with adding this idea to human civilization and there has always been push-back against it. I remember watching this as a child and thinking it was the least important episode, but upon reflection I realized it was the most important one. https://youtu.be/AiYGFZcD1h8 https://youtu.be/AiYGFZcD1h8
