I never got drunk because I cannot stand the taste of alcohol. I can drink at most half a glass of wine or beer. (Similarly, I can also not stand the taste of some artificial sweeteners. I am probably not a supertaster, because I do like grapefruit very much. I also have a problem with many 'synthetic' smells and cannot stand smoke.) I never realized that this had an effect on my social life, by not joining in with getting drunk with others (especially in my younger years). In my current social circles, excessive consumption of alcohol is not the norm.
