Please provide examples of US citizens who have never been to China being abducted by the Chinese for searching the wrong thing. Or is this just your own delusion?
- afpx 6y agoI’ve had too many Chinese business contacts mysteriously “commit suicide” for it to be coincidental.
- mnm1 6y agoChinese contacts who have never been to China. Fascinating.
- fennecfoxen 6y agoSome introductory coverage of China's international kidnapping campaign, which affects foreign citizens, is available here: https://foreignpolicy.com/2018/03/29/the-disappeared-china-renditions-kidnapping/ https://foreignpolicy.com/2018/03/29/the-disappeared-china-r... "Oh," but you might be tempted say, "that wasn't just for a Google search! And many of those who are citizens elsewhere? Like the Chinese government, I don't believe that citizenship is valid." You will of course understand that the parent poster did not phrase the matter in those specific terms, and that in any event this is not a comfort. Google may have more of an opportunity, but Beijing has a stronger motive.
- mnm1 6y agoThese are all Chinese people the article is talking about. It's quite obvious that using Chinese apps as a Chinese person is dangerous. That's not what I asked about and certainly no reason to ban the app in America.
- fennecfoxen 6y agoahem > "OH," BUT YOU MIGHT BE TEMPTED SAY, "THAT WASN'T JUST FOR A GOOGLE SEARCH! AND MANY OF THOSE WHO ARE CITIZENS ELSEWHERE? LIKE THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT, I DON'T BELIEVE THAT CITIZENSHIP IS VALID." YOU WILL OF COURSE UNDERSTAND THAT THE PARENT POSTER DID NOT PHRASE THE MATTER IN THOSE SPECIFIC TERMS, AND THAT IN ANY EVENT THIS IS NOT A COMFORT. thank you
