- arcturus17 6y agoChina has been playing free market economics despite being a communist dictatorship, so by that logic, liberalism has won?
- almost_usual 6y agoChinese investors care way more about money than nationalism. Capitalism is brutally efficient, even in the guise of Communism.

- almost_usual 6y agoWho funds the government? Will the Chinese government turn down an investor who will give them more wealth and power by investing overseas? Their competition will use it to their advantage.
- Wolfenstein98k 6y agoMight is right, in many short-term scenarios. We don't have to agree that "kidnapping and imprisonment is good", to conclude that some people need arresting and imprisonment. China is intentionally playing the rules duplicitously, and so the West is going to have to play hardball. The opening up to China was based on the belief that we would treat each other as equals. That has not happened and Xi has made clear that will not happen.
