Removing fingerprint unlock and add face unlock and then months later facemasks are manditory, and you can't unlock your phone without pin.
- notwhereyouare 6y agoyou aren't wearing a mask 24/7. You'll still be able to use the face unlock feature when at home
- uncoder0 6y agoFingerprint was far better imo
- conradfr 6y agoI have a OnePlus 5 and use both depending on the situation, very useful.
- jt94mf90d 6y agoActually, some people are recomended to wear at home.
- untog 6y agoAn extreme minority. Unlocking your phone is very low on the list of issues if you are one of those people.
- mugsie 6y agoFace unlock is ... inconsitant, and support in apps is sparse. I have a 4XL (personal) and 2XL (work), and I never run into issues with the 2XL, it reads the fingerprint as I take out of my pocket, and it is open as I look at it. 4XL - take it out, and 80% of the time it works, the other 20% I spend time moving it up and down, and just entering the pin.
- domenukk 6y agoBitwarden supports faceunlock -> all apps with pin support face unlock. Solved.
- mugsie 6y agoyeah, but not my banking app, or apps like UniFi's Network manager that waits for the fingerprint read intent before trying the secure store. It is a lot more than just "password manager == sorted"
- ytpete 6y agoI prefer fingerprint too, but just want to point out it's also imperfect. If your hands are at all damp, or sweaty, or cold, the success rate drops to well below 50% (at least for me). It often takes 3-4 tries to unlock if not under perfect conditions, so it's not uncommon that I have to give up and enter the PIN even with my fingerprint-capable Pixel 3.
- slenk 6y agoYou must never get condensation on your finger or phone. That scanner is so ineffective with just a little moisture. That said, I still like it better than face.
- nicbou 6y agoOr when wearing a helmet
- rjsw 6y agoDoes the fingerprint scanner work when you are wearing disposable gloves ?
- SketchySeaBeast 6y agoDo people wear disposable gloves? A facemask I can understand, but I'm not sure of the value of disposable gloves vs good hand hygiene.
- curiousgal 6y agoPeople seem to forget that their skin is a glove when it comes to viruses. My point is instead of wearing gloves you can just avoid touching your face until you wash your hands or use hand sanitizer, which you can't do wearing gloves.
- ISL 6y agoEvery time I've removed my skin, it has been most unpleasant.
- dsr_ 6y ago...so don't touch your face with it.
- riffraff 6y agogloves have a pretty strong effect in preventing you from touching your face, when you remove the face mask because you get into a car. Your skin does not.
- SketchySeaBeast 6y agoYou should probably be hand sanitizing when you're getting in the car - if you keep the gloves on you're just smearing whatever you picked up at the store all over your car doors, keys, and steering wheel, as well as the strings of your mask. Assuming you use the car gloved in the next day or so, it's now on your hands as well.

- beepboopbeep 6y agoThis was my main regret of getting a pixel 4 and it still bothers me to this day. I was definitely more satisfied with my 3 :(
- SaltyBackendGuy 6y agoI still have my Pixel 2 and love it. Finger print reader is in the perfect location and I don't want to change XD.
- parliament32 6y agoFace unlock and masks are the bane of my existence right now. I'm honestly strongly considering removing the lock screen alltogether.
- ValentineC 6y agoAs an Apple Face ID user, I'm quite happy with how they improved the responsiveness of showing the keypad in iOS 13.5, presumably if half a face is detected [1]. Face ID continues trying to find a face for a few seconds if the sensor is pointed elsewhere.
