Just because your customer didn't explicitly tell you to account for people with darker skin doesn't mean your failure to do so is just "an error made during engineering". It can still be systemic racial bias for neither you nor your client to consider who is actually going to be using your devices. Also, no one said this is the only problem we have with devices.
