I have noticed that the downvoting seems to be getting more pronounced and often what I would consider to be uneducated opinions are gaining strength on HN. (IE people who don't agree with me.) :) I'm a newbie, but the reason I came here was for more signal than noise and several times in the last months I've considered looking for new places because the comment quality is slipping.
