I personally find it hard to believe that a rough estimate of $450 for the job (spitballing $45/hr for 10 hours) is less than 5 minutes of downtime and they only have 1 server. Then again, could easily be wrong

You cannot compare it to zero. You have to compare it to the cost of doing it with the downtime. There would be cost to that as well. It will not be free.
