For me a lack of trust in Google wouldn't be security related but their committment to keeping going with the products in the long term. Google have a reputation (rightly or wrongly) for dropping support for products quickly if they don't want them any more. In the home security perspective installs can last decades, and changing suppliers can be expensive. that's not a good match for Google's approach.
