I live in Atlanta and went to Ponce City market in downtown and it looked terrible for a Sunday at 2pm. A lot of the restaurants were half full, most shops were closed, and it overall looked empty.
I'm truly worried about the economy 4-6 months from now.
- jonathanliu 6y agoI get the sense that this decade will play host to weeks where decades happen. I am not excited. After all, "May you live in interesting times" is a curse, not a blessing.
- hanniabu 6y ago> I get the sense that this decade will play host to weeks where decades happen. What do you mean by this? That what usually would occur in decades would now occur in weeks?
- bfuclusion 6y agoIts an expression in (American) English that means that the amount of change (or number of significant events) in the week was equivalent to a decade in other times.
- perl4ever 6y agoThe original appears to be: "Есть десятилетия, когда ничего не происходит; и бывают недели, когда происходят десятилетия"
- wmeredith 6y agoIt’s referencing a quote by Lenin: “There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.” -Vladimir Ilyich Lenin
- Larrikin 6y agoGoing around Chicago I get a sense of disgust seeing people doing outside dining on the sidewalk with no masks that I have to walk by. They're less crowded but they are still packed in as much as they are legally allowed to be. There will be businesses that close, but once there is a vaccine there will be new ones like there always have been. They might be different but people aren't going to stop wanting to eat and drink. If anything hopefully there is a culling of our dated practices like tipping with people realizing how much money they've saved by doing pickup for example.
- jnwatson 6y agoIt is hard to eat and drink with a mask on. The risks of catching COVID outside are quite low with enough separation.
- dkdk8283 6y agoRespectively everyone has different risk profiles. Ranges from paranoia to defiance. Given my age and health I wear mask indoors which is required in my locale. I do not one outdoors where distancing is possible. Always a compromise
